Varanus island compression and power optimisation project (VICPOP)

Our client – Santos WA Energy Ltd
In order to maintain production rates through their Varanus Island (VI) processing hub, Santos are in the process of installing additional gas compression and power generation facilities on the island. The role played by WPF in the preliminary work, the mobilisation, installation, function testing and commissioning of the process and ancillary equipment on the island has been massive.
WPF’s scope of work included:
- Piping & structural materials procurement for on-site repairs and modifications
- Supply of new structural members
- Supply of modified pipe spooling
- Supply of new piping & structural ancillary items
- Manufacture, fit out and SIT of instrument air compressor shed.
- Engineering assessments and reporting on various equipment.
- Project management & assistance throughout project duration
- Supply of site labour services both on and offshore – all trades including boilermakers, welders, pipefitters, rigger / scaffolders, crane drivers & site supervisors / leading hands.
- Procurement and supply of specialised tooling, welding equipment & PPE.
- Hire of specialised equipment – including cranes wet and dry hire, EWP’s, scissor lifts and knuckle-boom lifts.
- Hire & supply of rigging equipment & tooling, including equipment register generation.
- General / miscellaneous consumables supply.
- Flange management services
- Supply of machining / repair services.
- Sea-fastening – mobilisation & demobilisation services
- On-site installation, tie-ins and repairs.
- Supply of NDT services
- QA-QC documentation including MDR’s for site repairs / works completed.
- General site assistance including clean-up & demobilisation services at job conclusion
